Is there good snorkeling in Playa del Carmen?
If you have the time to travel then the best snorkeling near Playa del Carmen can be found in Puerto Morelos. You have two options here, you can do a tour, or swim out to the reef in the swimming area yourself. … If you prefer to ‘do-it-yourself’ then the only place you can access the reef is by heading to Ojo de Agua.
What is reef snorkeling?
Snorkeling (British and Commonwealth English spelling: snorkeling) is the practice of swimming on or through a body of water while equipped with a diving mask, a shaped breathing tube called a snorkel, and usually swimfins. In cooler waters, a wetsuit may also be worn.
How long can you stay underwater with a snorkel?
With the snorkel above the surface, a snorkeler on the water can remain face down indefinitely. When diving, the snorkel doesn’t possess any breathing advantages so a beginner may be underwater for 45 seconds to 1 minute. A more experienced snorkeler might be underwater for between 1 to 2 minutes.
